Interview with Baharan Abdollahi, Digital Marketing Assistant
Introducing our newest addition to the MC team, Miss Baharan Abdollahi! Baha is our talented Digital Marketing Assistant. We sat down with her to learn a little bit more about her background and share with you this amazing woman with whom we are grateful to be working.
MC: Tell us a little about your background (where you’re from, family life, college life, accomplishments etc.)?
BA: I’m from Bellevue, Washington, raised in an Iranian-Amrerican household. I’m very close to my family and really value my Iranian heritage. I’ve grown up speaking English, Farsi, and French and have played tennis since age 5. I have now been living in San Luis Obispo for almost four years. I’m currently finishing up my senior year at Cal Poly, majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations, and minors in Political Science and French. Over the past four years, I was very involved in my sorority, and served as the Social Chair my sophomore year, before my semester abroad in Madrid, Spain. There I was able to explore Spanish culture and strengthen my Spanish speaking skills.
MC: Since joining the MC team, what is one of your favorite things you’ve learned about wine and spirits?
BA: I joined the MC team with a very superficial knowledge of wine and spirits that has grown exponentially during my time working for MC. My favorite thing I have learned is that wine and spirits are a lifestyle. There is so much to know and so much depth to every type of alcohol. I feel like a lot of that information is very valuable to drinkers, but isn’t something that is common knowledge. Through my research and work that I have done at MC, I’ve begun to truly understand the lifestyle aspect of this industry.
MC: What is your favorite part about your job?
BA: My favorite part about this job is the ability to create content that is relevant to younger generations of drinkers. I love having a lot of creative liberty within this job and am always excited to share new ideas and am usually able to try them out! This job is all about understanding our market; some ideas are fruitful and others not so much– the trial and error aspect of the job always keeps it interesting and gets me to really think about what people want.
MC: Who or what inspires your work?
BA: My friends inspire me to create content that is aesthetically pleasing while also being informative to younger drinkers. Being newly legal, I feel as though oftentimes we try to purchase wine or spirits that we don’t have much information on, and unless we do our own research, that information is not readily available. So, I consult my friends when creating new content, asking them what they would want to know and what questions they have. This, combined with my research, lets me create content that is relatable, useful, and great to look at!
MC: If you were an adult beverage, which would you be? (Feel free to get specific!)
BA: I would definitely be a Spicy Margarita on the rocks with a tajin rim!
Thanks so much for chatting with us, Baha!
