6 Wines You NEED this Valentine’s Day
It’s almost Valentine’s Day and all I’m thinking about is DINNER! Whether it’s romantic or with friends, it’s important to have the most important element: BOOZE! So we’ve put together this list of wines that will not disappoint on valentine’s day!
2016 Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé- $39
I absolutely adore Domaine Carneros! The Chateau is an extension of the famed Taittinger Champagne house by bringing their processes and history into the New World. A beautiful color with delightful strawberry, peach and apricot notes, hint of brioche and a wonderfully crisp finish, this wine is sure to be the perfect kick off for any Valentine’s Day dinner, or brunch!
2018 Dr. L by Dr. Loosen Dry Riesling – $15
A delectable dry white wine with notes of lime candy, honey suckle and wet stone this fabulous wine is quite tart and bright, perfect to pair with any sushi, grilled fish or crisp arugula salad. An excellent wine for appetizers.
The Palm Rosé by Whispering Angel- $12
A beautiful and harmonious wine at a great price, the Palm Rosé hits all the right spots. Not overly fruit forward but the strawberry and watermelon are present. It has a beautiful salinity and minerality that will pair with any fish, grilled veggies and even little fun appetizers like pretzel bread or mini corn dogs! Have fun with this rosé!
2017 Anonymous Red Blend by 1849 Wine Co. – $35
This delicious and deep red blend is perfect for a main course. A cabernet sauvignon heavy blend from the Napa Valley, this inky wine is wonderful to enjoy with a hearty rack of lamb, steak, pasta bolognese and perhaps even a mushroom risotto. A romantic wine that sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
2017 Upshot Red Blend by Rodney Strong – $20
This wine is the perfect mix of a “couch potato” wine and a “wine me and dine me” with a delicious flavor balance, merlot, zinfandel and malbec with a hint of riesling as well, this wine does not disappoint. This wine will make you dance around in your PJ’s with your girl friends, is a great companion with your Xbox, or even great for a fancy night for two!
2018 Wakefield Taylor St. Andrews Shiraz- $50
Don’t let the screw cap confuse you, this wine is a lot more fancy than it seems. The screw cap is a choice made often by Australian producers like Wakefield due to their harvest and bottling times. All good, just makes it easier to open! This delectable Shiraz is inky and fruit forward with hints of black current, black cherry, blackberry and blueberry. It has slight hints of eucalyptus and menthol notes that will sure to make that mint jelly on your lamb pop! This is an excellent wine that is quite impressive. You must enjoy this wine with someone you love to get its full effect.
