6 Rum Cocktails for This Summer

The Juice

Ah rum, one of the most cocktail-friendly bases in my opinion. A true testament of summer time. Almost all rum cocktails make us think of summer, and as it warms up, you may want to save a couple of these recipes to satisfy your next cocktail craving!

What exactly is Rum?

Rum is alcohol made from a direct sugar base. Many spirits are made from corn, barley, wheat, potatoes–you name it. And these starches have to break down into sugars and then ferment into alcohol. Rum is generally made from fermenting sugar, molasses, tree sap, or sugar cane juice. Sometimes, it is aged in oak barrels to add aroma and texture.

Rum is commonly produced in the Caribbean islands, Marseille, and Southeast Asia. When we look at what all of these locations have in common, we know they’re all right on the water. So rum is generally tied to beachside drinks, the location where we all want to be during the summer.

We’ve put together a list of our favorite rum drinks you should make at home this summer. And no, we’re not going to be THAT basic…
